About Me

I am Renjie (Rayn Jay) Mei, a potential researcher specializing in Bio-Electronics Interface and an enthusiastist at Brain-Computer Interface. Currently, I am pursuing my undergraduate degree in Intelligent Medical Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), P.R. China. My research experiences center on metal-polymer condutor electrodes for biomedical applications.

Outside of academia, I enjoy video games, billiards (or snooker), photography, and exploring the intersection of technology and art. I believe that creativity and curiosity are the driving forces behind meaningful innovation.

BME YES! BUT WHY?

As human longevity continues to rise, the challenges posed by neurodegenerative disorders and chronic conditions have become increasingly salient. Mere extension of lifespan is no longer sufficient; instead, the preservation of high-quality life—encompassing both physical and cognitive vitality—has emerged as a critical priority. This imperative underscores the need for sophisticated biomedical technologies capable of seamless integration with the human body, facilitating early diagnosis, real-time physiological monitoring, and targeted therapeutic intervention.

My academic and research endeavors are centered on the intersection of Bio-Electronic Interfaces and flexible electrode systems, with the objective of advancing next-generation neurotechnologies that enhance human health and functional performance. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Intelligent Medical Engineering at the Southern University of Science and Technology, my work focuses on two key areas: the development of metal-polymer composite electrodes for biomedical applications and the refinement to optimize the functionality of medical devices.

By harnessing interdisciplinary advancements in materials science, bioelectronics, and artificial intelligence, I seek to develop pragmatic solutions that empower individuals to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives amid the demographic shift toward extended longevity. Such innovations hold the potential to redefine healthcare paradigms, enabling proactive health management and restoring functional autonomy for diverse populations.

Something Not That Important

SUSTech

First, I want to share some information of the SUSTech. As a vibrant and innovative institution founded in the dynamic city of Shenzhen, SUSTech embodies the spirit of youth, progress, and possibility. The campus is a blend of modern architecture and natural beauty, fostering an environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and academic excellence. Here, students and faculty work together to push the boundaries of science and technology, making SUSTech a truly inspiring place to learn and grow.
Here are some photos I took at SUSTech and nearby locations, capturing the vibrant campus life and beautiful surroundings.

Jiang's Lab

Next, I would like to introduce Jiang's Lab, where I conduct my research at SUSTech. Our lab specializes not only in flexible bioelectrodes, but also in cutting-edge areas such as DNA data storage and advanced drug delivery systems. The environment is highly collaborative and intellectually stimulating, encouraging interdisciplinary innovation and scientific rigor. Below are some photos highlighting our lab activities and team events.

Hometown

My hometown, Dengfeng, is a small town nestled at the foot of the majestic Songshan Mountain, renowned as one of China's Five Great Mountains. This region is steeped in history and culture, most famously as the home of the legendary Shaolin Temple, a cradle of Chan Buddhism and martial arts. Dengfeng offers a harmonious blend of ancient heritage and natural beauty, with scenic landscapes, tranquil temples, and vibrant local traditions. The area's unique atmosphere inspires both reflection and exploration, making it a truly special place to grow up. Here are some photos capturing the essence of Dengfeng, from the serene mountain views to the historic sites.

Travel

Traveling has always been a source of inspiration and growth for me. Each journey, whether to bustling cities or tranquil natural landscapes, offers new perspectives and unforgettable experiences. I enjoy capturing moments from my travels through photography, documenting the vibrant cultures, stunning scenery, and unique stories I encounter along the way. These travel memories not only enrich my life but also fuel my curiosity and creativity, motivating me to explore even more of the world. Here are some photos from my recent trips, showcasing the diverse places and beautiful moments I've experienced.

Grand Prix

The 2025 Grand Prix Final was an unforgettable experience for me as a fan and traveler. Held at the Hong Kong Kai Tak Sports Park, the event brought together world-class players and an enthusiastic crowd, creating an electric atmosphere. Watching top professionals, Robertson and Bingham, compete at such a high level was both thrilling and inspiring. Even more astonishing was Robertson's incredible 10-0 sweep -- a truly historic scoreline in snooker. Bingham, unfortunately, was far from his best. After the match, he revealed that he had been deeply affected by the recent passing of his uncle, which understandably impacted his performance.
